For over twenty years, the author, Debra Ward has worked in the field of budget and finance for both public and private sector entities. Debra has trained many budget analysts during her career and has a solid reputation. Beginning her career as an unpaid intern, Debra progressed through the various positions in the world of finance and spent the last 10 years of her career in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer.

Debra has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University and a Masters degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Public Policy and Finance from the University of Washington.
